Services
Dualsytsems DUALhybrid screening technology is based on the original yeast two-hybrid system and offers several advantages when searching for novel protein-protein interactions, such as speed, specificity and low cost. Our DUALmembrane system is an extremely powerful screening technology aimed at identifying protein-protein interactions between integral membrane proteins. By circumventing problems associated with traditional screening systems, the DUALmembrane system is used to directly identify interactions between membrane proteins in their natural setting.
Products
Dualsystems market a range of kits and accessory components for protein interaction screening to academic and industrial customers and we construct custom cDNA libraries to help our customers achieve optimal quality in their screenings. Key Product - The DUALmembrane Kit 3 The DUALmembrane kit is a novel genetic system with the unique ability to identify interactions between integral membrane proteins. Create a bait using your membrane protein of interest and use the DUALmembrane system to characterize its interactions with other proteins or identify novel interaction partners by screening a cDNA expression library. The DUALmembrane system works in bakers yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), an organism which has been used for decades as a model system in biology and which can be easily and inexpensively handled in any lab. The kit, including a complete manual with in-depth protocols and a wide range of cDNA libraries is available from Dualsystems Biotech. The DUALmembrane kit 3 incorporates the third generation of DUALmembrane reagents, including new, optimized vectors and a very efficient reporter strain. The DUALmembrane kit 3 also includes a trial size package of the HTX beta-galactosidase assay kit (P01002) for quick and easy determination of beta-galactosidase levels during a DUALmembrane screen.

Advantages / Disadvantages of system
Yeast two-hybrid system + Easy to use + Straightforward indentification of novel binding partners of a protein of interest through cDNA library screening + Widely established system for identifying protein-protein interactions - Interactions ocurr in the nucleus, certain types of proteins (e.g. integral membrane proteins) cannot be used
DUAL membrane system + The only genetic screening system currently available for use with integral membrane proteins + Many types of interactions can be detected, including interactions at the membrane - Expression levels must be tightly controlled - Slightly more tricky to use than the yeast two-hybrid system
