Interferon-Beta (IFN-β) expression and secretion is primarily induced by signaling from pattern recognition receptors such as the Toll-Like and RIG-I-Like receptors. Overall,IFN-β is part of the first wave of cytokine response in cells. Pathogen infection can result in the activation of interferon regulatory factor (IRF3) that functions in trans to activate interferon-beta gene transcription.Conversely,IFN-β aberrant expression may be associated with inflammation and autoimmunity. More sensitive assays are needed to investigate the physiological relevance of low levels of IFN-β that may be present before viral infection or autoimmunity is observable. The VeriKine-HS ™ Human Interferon-Beta Serum ELISA kit has been developed to accurately and reproducibly measure the low/basal levels of IFN-β in a variety of sample matrices including serum, plasma and tissue culture media. The basal levels of Type I IFNs,including IFN-β,are not fully understood. They are believed to be important for robust response to pathogens and may play additional roles in cellular homeostasis. Product Features: - Detects Human IFN-β level to as low as 1.5 pg/ml
- Effective range from 2.3-150 pg/ml
- Serum and Cell culture media compatible
- Less than 6% intra-assay variability in serum
