At Stratech, we are committed to complying with the UK Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) regulations introduced by HMRC. This tax applies to plastic packaging that contains less than 30% recycled content and is either manufactured in or imported into the UK.
The nature and stability of many our life science reagents for healthcare research are only viable when frozen at extremely cold temperatures such as -80 degrees Centigrade. During international transit and importation they may need to be kept at this temperature for several days until they reach the Uk and subsequently the Researcher. Currently the only method of keeping these valuable reagents at this temperature is in dry ice and a polystyrene container. Whilst we strive to find equally as suitable containers that are not polystyrene, or that does not involve air freighting returned empty containers around the world, there are no equivalents at this timepoint. Whilst we continue in our search for alternatives, we ensure that all of our packaging is recycled and disposed of appropriately.
