Innovation with Impact
Powering the Companies in Pursuit of a Healthier Future
From animal vaccines to human nutrition, Proliant Health & Biologicals produces industry-leading proteins to serve companies in microbiological, life sciences, bio-pharmaceutical, and veterinary sciences across the globe.
Diagnostic instruments are only as reliable as the materials used to make them. PHB controls its entire manufacturing process to create exceptionally pure protein products that ensure accurate and consistent results when it matters most.
PHB’s manufacturing process minimizes the minor variances in BSA purity that can have major impacts on diagnostic accuracy and reliability.
Known for their reliability and consistency, PHB’s Standard Grade (caprylate stabilized) products tout industry-leading specifications, offering improved performance across the board. The entire range of Standard Garde (caprylate stabilized) products offer peace of mind when your most sensitive applications demand results.
Proliant’s Standard Grade (Caprylate Stabilized) pH 7.0 provides a BSA in its native state, providing the most stable form of BSA for the most sensitive cell culture, diagnostic, and research applications. Caprylate stabilized BSA has exceptional purity and low interference, utilizing heat-shock fractionation designed to inactivate proteases and other potentially interfering enzymes.

Proliant Standard Grade (Caprylate Stabilized) pH 5.2 BSA is the established standard for lower pH applications because of its undetectable protease and IgG along with the fact that it is also free of contaminants that can cause background interference. At pH 5.2, our BSA has optimal anti-fouling properties, making it a superior blocking agent across a variety of applications.

Fatty-acid free BSA touts the lowest levels of total lipids, fatty acids, and non-esterified fatty acids of any albumin currently available commercially. It is optimal in applications where fatty acids can interfere with functionality such as hormone, cholesterol, or nucleic acid assays and is the preferred choice for protein fillers or bases so fatty acids won’t also be included. Fatty-acid free BSA is also highly recommended for enzymatic assays due to there being no EDTA.

Sulfhydryl Blocked BSA offers some of the most effective BSA through a manufacturing process that effectively blocks free thiol groups to provide a high monomer albumin and ensures less crossreactivity.
It can be used in acridinium ester chemiluminescence, and because it contains fatty acid and does not have residual EDTA, sulfhydryl blocked BSA is a great blocker for enzymatic assays.

Bovine Gamma Globulin for Enhanced Accuracy and Exceptional Results
Proliant Bovine Gamma Globulin offers exceptional passive blocking capability and is great for complex applications due to its unique protein makeup and superior solubility. When BGG is paired with BSA, it offers even greater blocking power to help address heterophilic antibodies that may lead to false positives and reduced immunoassay performance by depleting the concentration of these interfering antibodies.
To achieve the best results, Bovine Gamma Globulin blocking conditions should be optimized for maximal signal-to-noise ratio and should be tested against appropriate controls.
