Description: The determination of occult blood in urine is helpful in detecting hemorrhagic lesions in the gastrointestinal tract and renal disturbances. However, the chemical methods usually applied often give quasi-positive or quasi-negative results due to various interfering substances in urine which are non-specifically reactive during chemical analyses. This test can specifically detect occult blood with a high level of sensitivity based on the EIA method with a specific antibody to rat hemoglobin.
