Description: Designed for safety, strength, rigidity, and fluid capacity, the SalivaBio Infant’s Swab is similar to the Children’s swab (SCS), but with smaller dimensions (6.3 x 90 mm) appropriate for the tiny mouths of infants up to 6 months of age. The length of the swab allows one end to be held while the other end is in the infant’s mouth, eliminating any choking hazard. The SIS is made of the same durable polymer used in the SalivaBio Oral Swab (SOS) and SCS, so there is no danger of the swab breaking up while in use. The taste and texture of the SIS are acceptable to children, and the volume of sample recovered is typically in the range of 200-1000 µL. The SIS has the same freedom from interference and verified recoveries as our SOS and SCS. Approved for collection of saliva for analysis of: cortisol, alpha-amylase (sAA), chromogranin A (CgA), cotinine, C-reactive protein (CRP), Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), melatonin, secretory IgA (SIgA), testosterone, uric acid, and DNA. SalivaBio Swabs are intended for the collection of saliva samples for analysis. The SalivaBio Infant’s Swab (SIS) (Item No. 5001.08), is recommended for infants under 6 months of age. The SIS may also be used for non-human saliva collection based on the size of the species and the researcher’s preference. SalivaBio Infant’s Swab Cautions: Use only as directed. This device is packaged clean, but not sterile. A copy of this caution note or the instruction sheet must be distributed to each device user.
