Description: Beta-Sheet Breaker Peptide iAβ5 (C33H43N5O8), with the sequence H-Leu-Pro-Phe-Phe-Asp-OH, has been shown to inhibit amyloidogenesis in rat brain models. Research showed that beta-sheet breaker peptide significantly reduces amyloid beta-protein deposition in vivo and completely blocks the formation of amyloid fibrils in a rat brain model of amyloidosis. Current evidence supports the notion that beta-amyloid deposits or Abeta intermediates may be responsible for the pathogenesis in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients.
