This antibody has been used in flow cytometric detection of thrombin-stimulated platelets (Katayama et al, 1992), and a chimeric mouse/human version of this antibody also preferentially reacts with activated platelets (Kurome et al, 1994). This could enable the detection of platelets aggregating at sites of blood vessel injury, or the delivery of clot-dissolving drugs. The specificity of this antibody for CD62 has been confirmed in western blot and ELISA (Katayama et al, 1992), and ELISA analysis based on this antibody has been used to assess P-selectin levels in plasma sample of patients post-angina (Ikeda et al, 1995).
This reformatted mouse antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
