Anti-IgG nanobodies can often perform more efficiently than polyclonal secondary antibodies in various experimental assays. For instance, this nanobody conjugated with a maleimide-activated HRP was used to detect rabbit IgG via ECL Western blot and it considerably outperformed a polyclonal secondary antibody-HRP conjugate (Pleiner et al., 2018). Similarly, when conjugated with the infrared fluorophore IRDye 800, it was very efficient in detecting nucleoporins (Nups) in a Xenopus laevis egg extract via Western blot (Pleiner et al., 2018). TP897 antibody can be used for the purification of antigens or antigen complexes previously bound to a primary antibody, as it successfully isolated polyclonal rabbit IgG from serum and then released it under physiological conditions using SUMOStar protease cleavage (Pleiner et al., 2018). This nanobody is also recommended for the immunofluorescence detection of both monoclonal and polyclonal primary rabbit antibodies (Pleiner et al., 2018).
