Application Notes
This is a neutralizing antibody againt the porcine endogenous retrovirus. This antibody is unable to pull down the viral particle in an immunoprecipitation assay and has a relatively high IC50 in the neutralization assay which supports the notion that the neutralizing activity of 7C4 is due to the blockage of p15E fusogenic activity after the virus binds to the host cell receptor. Epitope mapping of the antibody was also done using Western blotting and verification of binding sites of the antibody was done by competition ELISA. It was reported that Env332-615 and Env460-539 recombinant proteins exhibited strong inhibition activity for 7C4 mAb binding to the immobilized antigen Env332-615 (Chiang et al., 2007).
