This antibody can be used to investigate the role of the signalling pathways related to the Notch receptors and its ligands. The original hamster IgG version of this antibody was successfully used as a blocking agent to inhibit the binding of Notch2-Fc to Dll1/CHO cells (Moriyama et al., 2008; pmid: 18381350), demonstrating that this clone is an effective inhibitor of the interactions between Dll1 and Notch receptors. Another study investigated the role of Delta1 in allograft rejection by blocking it with HMD1-5 (Riella et al., 2011; pmid: 21949024). This blocking ability was further corroborated by showing that HMD1-5 stops the Dll1-Fc-triggered Notch2 signaling (Moriyama et al., 2008; pmid: 18381350). Furthermore, this clone was utilized in flow cytometry to analyse the Notch ligands' expression on splenocytes, monocytes and macrophages (Moriyama et al., 2008; pmid: 18381350; Sekine et al., 2009; 19181931). Similarly, HMD1-5 has also detected Dll1-expressing cells in spleen sections in immunohistochemistry (Moriyama et al., 2008; pmid: 18381350; Sekine et al., 2009; 19181931). Finally, this antibody can be used to assess the role of Dll1 signalling and the role of the Notch receptors in various settings. The same group used this clone to investigate the involvement of Dll1 in the maintenance of MZBcells (Marginal zone B cells) (Moriyama et al., 2008; pmid: 18381350).
This chimeric rat antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Hamster IgG format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
