ELISA was used to confirm the binding of this antibody to hMPV F protein. This antibody has been reported to have high neutralizing activity against all of the hMPV types A1, A2, B1, and B2 with an in vitro IC50 of < 2µg/ml. The antibody is effective as passive prophylaxis in protecting hamsters from HMPV challenge and also reduces incidence of MPV infection and disease in animal models (PMID: 16873237). Intraperitoneal injection of thia antibody into BALB/c mice significantly decreased lung viral titers after HMPV challenge when the antibody was administered prophylactically or therapeutically (PMID: PMID: 20619294).
This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Chicken VHH format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
