Description: MaxLight™550 is a new Yellow-Green photostable dye conjugate comparable to Alexa Fluor™546, 555, DyLight™549 , Cy3™, TRITC and offers better labeling efficiency, brighter imaging and increased immunodetection. Absorbance (550nm); Emission (575nm); Extinction Coefficient 150,000. The catenins are polypeptides that bind to the conserved cytoplasmic tail of cadherins and are required for cadherin function. a-catenin is a 102kD protein that is associated with the cadherin indirectly through its interaction with b-catenin and g-catenin. b-Catenin and its homolog plakoglobin associate directly with the cadherin. Thus, the cell-cell adherens junction is a structure composed of the transmembrane cadherin, which is associated directly with either b-catenin or plakoglobin, which in turn assoctiates directly with a-catenin. a- Catenin then mediates the interaction between the cadherin-catenin complex and the actin cytoskeleton. a-Catenin has been characterized as a tumor suppressor, suggesting that it may have a regulatory function in relation to its structural role.
