Description

Description: CD154 was formerly known as CD40 ligand (CD40L). It is also known as gp39, a transmembrane glycoprotein. It is a type II integral membrane protein and a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family of ligands. CD154 is expressed by activated T-cells and serves an important function in T-APC cognate interaction through binding to CD40 on B cells, monocytes/macrophages and dendritic cells. CD154 is expressed by activated CD4+ve T lymphocytes.
