Description: β-catenin is an armadillo protein that binds to numerous partners, including cadherins, adenomatosis polyposis coli, and T-cell factor 1 , and is also a principal component of the Wnt signaling pathway 2 . β-catenin is necessary for embryonic development, organ differentiation and development, bone homeostasis, mammalian hair growth, and adult tissue regeneration. Additionally, β-catenin functions in cell adhesion as part of a cadherin/catenin complex, plays an important role in the structural integrity of squamous epithelial cells 3 , and is involved in synaptic plasticity 1 . β-catenin localizes to the cell cytoplasm, and once activated, translocates to the nucleus, where it activates target genes via TCF/LEF transcription factors
