Description

Description: Caspase-7 (also called Mch3, ICE-LAP3, CMH-1) belongs the caspase-family of cysteine proteases. Like other caspases, caspase-7 also exists as an inactive proenzyme in cells. Sequential activation of caspases plays a key role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases undergo proteolytic processing as inactive proenzymes by upstream caspases (caspase-8, -9) at conserved aspartic residues to produce two subunits, large one and small one. The two subunits dimerize to form the active enzyme in the form of a heterotetramer. Active caspase-7 has been shown involving in the proteolysis of poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP). PARP is involved in DNA repair and genomic maintenance. The precursor of this caspase is cleaved by caspase 10, caspase 3 and caspase 9. The recombinant active human caspase-7 was expressed in E. Coli.
