Description: Non ionic detergents like Triton X-100 are used in immunoassays for diluting antibodies to lower background, and non-specific antigen-antibody (ag-ab) reaction. This detergent is also used in washing buffer from 0.1- 0.5% in all immunoassays (ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Blot assays and others) to reduce background.Triton X-100 (polyethyleneglycolp (1,1,3,3 tetramethylbutyl) phenylether ,octylphenolethoxylate, polyoxyethylene octyl phenyl ether,4-octylphenol polyethoxylate,Mono 30, TX-100, t-octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol, Octoxynol-9it lower surface tension of water. Triton X-100 is also used for recovery of membrane components under mild non-denaturing conditions.

Application Notes
For diluting antibodies use 1:1000 in buffers (1 ml into 999 ml). Washing buffer use 1:500 (1 ml into 499 ml). The optimum dilution should be determined by the individual lab.
