Description

Description: Arginase catalyzes the hydrolysis of arginine to ornithine and urea. At least two isoforms of mammalian arginase exist (types I and II) which differ in their tissue distribution, subcellular localization, immunologic crossreactivity and physiologic function. The type I isoform encoded by this gene, is a cytosolic enzyme and expressed predominantly in the liver as a component of the urea cycle. Inherited deficiency of this enzyme results in argininemia, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyperammonemia. [provided by RefSeq]

Short Description

Arginase 1 antibody detects arginase 1, an enzyme with a predicted molecular weight of ~35 kDa. Arginase 1 is cytosolic and expressed primarily in hepatocytes, catalyzing the conversion of L-arginine to urea and L-ornithine. The activity of this enzyme has an immunoregulatory function in M2 macrophages.

Storage Note

Store as concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening vial. For short-term storage (1-2 weeks), store at 4C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20C or below. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
