Description: This gene is a member of the Ig superfamily and encodes a cell surface sialoglycoprotein expressed by cytokine-activated endothelium. This type I membrane protein mediates leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion and signal transduction, and may play a role in the development of artherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Application Notes
Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of U937 Human histiocytic lymphoma cells. When cells are added to VCAM1 coated plates 10 µg/ml. This effect is more to 70%.

Store as concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening vial. For short-term storage (1-2 weeks), store at 4C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20C or below. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
