Description

Description: Interleukin-1 receptor II (IL-1 RII), also known as CD121b, is an immunoglobulin superfamily receptor that binds the pleiotropic cytokines, IL-1alpha and IL-1beta. It acts as an IL-1 antagonist because it has a short cytoplasmic domain and does not transduce IL-1 signals. IL-1 RII exists both as a transmembrane protein and as a soluble form that is released by proteolysis.
