Description: MAc Test measures the metabolic acidosis, that is all metabolic acids in our body. Unlike the measurement of pH, dosing only the free hydrogen ions, with this test it is possible to measure all the hydrogen ions of acid groups, including non-dissociated ones. Metabolic acidosis resulting from production of: acid radicals, such as sulfuric and phosphoric radical derived from protein catabolism; succinic acid; pyruvic acid and lactic acid, derived from carbohydrate catabolism; acetoacetate acid; hydrogen hydroxybutyric acid and acetone, derived from lipid catabolism; carbonic acid derived from catabolism respiratory. The method is based on the chromophore properties of an indicator that takes on a red-orange colour depending on sample acidity.
