Short Description

SARS-ACN/2 (residues 1-49) protein.The protein contains the Nucleocapsid protein immunodominant fragments, amino acids: 1-49.SARS-ACN is purified by proprietary chromatographictechniques.SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) Coronavirusis an enveloped virus containing three outer structuralproteins, namely the membrane (M), envelope (E), andspike (S) proteins. The nucleocapsid (N) protein togetherwith the viral RNA genome presumably form a helicalcore located within the viral envelope. The SARS-CoVnucleocapsid (N) protein is a 423 amino-acid, predictedphosphoprotein of 46 kDa that shares little homologywith other members of the coronavirus family. A shortserine-rich stretch, and a putative bipartite nuclearlocalization signal are unique to it, thus suggesting itsinvolvement in many important functions during the virallife cycle.
