Description

Description: NutriCulture RPMI 1640, also known as RPMI Medium, was originally developed by Moore and his co-workers in 1966 Roswell Park Memorial Institute to culture human leukemia cells in suspension and monolayer. NutriCulture RPMI 1640 Medium was formulated for use in a 5% carbon dioxide atmosphere and has since been found suitable for culture of a variety of mammalian cells, including HeLa, Jurkat, MCF-7, PC12, PBMC, astrocytes, and carcinomas. NutriCulture RPMI 1640 has also traditionally been used for the serum-free expansion of human lymphoid cells for karyotype analysis. Each lot of NutriCulture RPMI 1640 is prepared from powdered base medium, tissue culture-grade water, and is sterile filtered using a 0.1 micron filter. Each lot of NutriCulture RPMI 1640 is tested to confirm the absence of bacterial, fungal, and mycoplasmal contamination.
