Description: Blasticidin S HCl is a nucleoside antibiotic isolated from Stretomyces girseochromogenes. It acts by blocking hydrolysis of peptidyl-tRNA induced by release factors and inhibits peptide bond formation. It is used to select transfected cells carrying bsr or BSD resistance genes.
